Burning Man Light Wall

In 2019, Char was given the opportunity to play with some larger-scale LEDs for a Burning Man project. Her camp had previously commissioned four 3-foot by 10-foot panels covered in LED strips. Char was solely responsible for ensuring the panels were both functional and entertaining throughout the week of Burning Man 2019.

The LEDs were wired to use the PixelPusher protocol over a locally generated WIFI network. Char used LED Lab to connect to the panels and push custom content to the LEDs from an iPad. In addition to getting exposure to the PixelPush protocol and LED Lab, Char got a taste for how much more power and planning larger-scale light art projects require (particularly on the dusty playa!).
